Generative AI — Past, Present, Future

As the title says, I want to share some basic, higher-level thoughts and opinions on the subject of AI, specifically ChatGPT and LLM, and really more about what the present and the future hold for this. I won't spend much time on the past, simply because this space, and specifically ChatGPT hasn't been around that long, and it's an area that's constantly changing and evolving. As we know history often teaches us many valuable lessons, and sometimes with the things we don't want to repeat, so in the longer term, the history of AI and ChatGPT will be something to keep track of and follow as we move forward.

Let’s dig in and start with the current state of ChatGPT for consumers and businesses. Similar to other technology adoptions and shifts, AI has the potential to find and or make inroads from a consumer's perspective first, followed by adoptions within the business or enterprises.

Similar to BYOD — Tablets, Phones, businesses need to start thinking about and developing policies around the use of AI in business and enterprise. Simply blocking or disallowing the use of these services isn't a viable, longer-term approach. Similar to SaaS services, if an individual or business unit has a payment method, they can use technologies with or without a business Technology or Infosec team, so it is better to start preparing for it now.

With new and emerging tech, especially from the business and enterprise sides, there can be more gray areas vs. what is simply black and white. Now is the time to set those…
